Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they announced in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.
The substance had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Police then located multiple other smeared automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report initial examinations show the fluid was likely human blood.
"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; investigators are not yet informed of any physical harm in relation with the event," they stated.
Local authorities said they were working "to solve the incident" and have asked to the community for information.
A high-ranking official stated the vandalism left him stunned and required to be resolved promptly.
"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, recalling the murder of nine people by a shooter focusing on residents of migrant background in 2020.
